More meals on short flights!
meal service on more short-haul flights. Beginning August 24, 2000, an
additional 170 Air Canada flights operated daily in North America will now
offer a light meal, over and above the current bar and beverage service. This
$12 million initiative is part of an on-going review of Air Canada's in-flight
meal service standards that began in May 2000.
``The expansion of our light meal service to include more short-haul
flights is part of a comprehensive review of all Air Canada in-flight
standards to better serve our customers,'' said Lise Fournel, Executive Vice
President, Commercial. ``Traditional meal times have become blurred as
lifestyles change, and this is particularly true for our customers who are on
the go and want a snack before they arrive at their destination.''
Air Canada is expanding its short-haul light meal service, consisting of
a sandwich box lunch in Hospitality or a choice of cold or hot sandwich tray
in Executive Class, to all Air Canada operated short-haul flights departing
between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. local time. Short haul flights are those
operated between 45 minutes to two hours in length.
On evening flights, Air Canada is similarly expanding its in-flight
short-haul light meal service to include more transborder flights and select
domestic flights between 45 minutes and two hours in length.
Future enhancements to Air Canada's and Canadian Airlines' in-flight meal
services are planned to be launched later this Fall.
