How to apply mascara to get the best effect?

January 05th, 2009 edit

  • I was always told to apply makeup looking in the opposite direction. So if you were applying to you right eye, look to the left (& vice versa) This reaches right into the outta lashes to give you a sexier and wider eye.

  • well this is something that I heard on tv and I have tried but I am not sure if it is any better than what you have at the moment so I'll just tell you what I heard.

    1. you get a tissue.
    2. dab the end/tip (the end of the wand) on the tissue.
    3. twist the tip around.

    Apparently this gets rid of clumps.

    And then you apply the mascara on as close to the ends brushing it verticaly/sideways on the top and bottom eye lids.

  • twist it/ roll it onto your eyelashes
    let it dry
    wobble the wand whilst doing it
    let it dry
    & just go over the top.

  • A really good tip I saw on TV once was to coat the top of your lashes too so you apply the mascara brushing down and then you brush up. It makes them look thicker and darker.

  • what you do is get the brush as close to your lashline as you can then give the wand a wiggle and pulls through your lashes. this separates your lashes and stops clummps forming

  • get a good mascara, with a brush you can handle.
    if you have light hair, choose a brown mascara for the day, and use black mascara only when you're out in the evening.

    apply only a thin layer from root to tip.
    let mascara dry.
    this way, you'll get a natural look.

    only for evenings, brush a second time. but be careful, don't use too much mascara, and don't brush a second time before the first layer has dried - you'll look like a clown, with spider legs around your eyes... *ewww*

  • The absolute best way to get THE BEST effect is to hold a business card or any small card , behind your eyelashes and sweep the mascara up - so that the lashes are coated against the card. That makes them curl and makes them seem a whole lot longer.

    Another way is to jiggle the mascara from side to side slowly while sweeping up.

  • You have to wait until the first coat is completely dry before applying the second coat. It is so much better, as you don't get clumps but you get added thickness.

  • follow these steps

    # Separate your lashes with a clean mascara wand. The clean mascara brush should not have any mascara on it. If you ignore this step, your lashes will clump together.

    # Powder your lashes. The powder will set the lashes and will make your eyelashes a bit more noticeable. You can use either baby powder or a makeup powder.

    # Curl your eyelashes slightly.

    # Apply the mascara from the base of the eyelashes to the tips.

    # Finish applying the mascara to your bottom lashes. You want to create a finished look to complement your top lashes. Don't reapply the mascara, or you'll create the dramatic evening look.

    # Remember to use the mascara in moderation. While you are out and about throughout the day, it is a good idea to touch up your mascara, but don't overdo it.

  • Babes, what i do is i first apply a good colourless mascara then wait for it to dry then use the eyelash curlers cos then its colouless it wont stain your eyelash curlers and remember you have to wait till it DRIES before curling them, this is easier then curlin them with nohthing on your lashes cos it hardens the lashes an makes them curl better :) then when its all curled as you want it to you apply a THIN layer of blak volume mascara for the best effect it makes your lahes look thinkker then when that dries apply THICK lengthening mascara and it makes you lashes look much longer ;) then use a eyelash brush and brush froo your eyelashes starting from the bottom, this removes clumps and separates your lashes to avoid the clump look :)when its all done your off to go looking like a superstar. :) i noe it sounds really long this process but if you get used to it and no what to do it is nothing :) and its worth it anyway especially if you wanner get really dressed up :) if you do not have any of these equipment to do this process then you may beable to find some in shops like boots or superdrug or mke up shops or like anything in those lines :) good luck

  • and if you use eyelash curlers, use them before you apply mascara, I didn't and once all my eyelashes stuck to the curlers and came out. It took years for them to grow back and they have never been as long since
