RyanAir takes over Aer Lingus transatlantic routes?
Ryan Air is also looking to add three more hubs in Europe and they will also hire some of the Aer Lingus personel that will be fired later this month.
I can't see it happening somehow. If EI and others can't make money on the low fares they have I simply don't see Ryanair doing so.
Can they improve aircraft utilisation I doubt it on long haul. Would they offer a business serviceor Premium product doubtful. Flying 737's in Europe holds more potential for the time being anyway.
Ryanair are good at winding people up though just look at their current advertising.
A very unusual move completely at odds with his business model. The share value will plummet. And Mary O'Rourke is very unlikely to be happy.
As for ex EI staff - most of them would rather never work again than go to FR(except for the yellow pack labour which is a possibility)
The only way it would work is as a completely different airline.
And nobody has succeeded with a low cost transatlantic airline (yet ) ....but if anyone can do it O'Leary can
Continental is dumping two for one tickets from SNN to NYC at £350 (Uk £175 rtn each)at the moment - O'Leary would have to do £50 return
He would have to use something like a 747-400 (but these are getting cheaper day by day)
Fascinating....any more info ?
interesting
Seems the German routes are highly successful with many Germans finally abandoning Lufthansa
