Which Level?

January 05th, 2009 edit

  • I could not find info in previous posts.
Transferring from T1 to T2, Where should one catch the curbside bus to T2...on the arrivals level or on the departures level?
Are there certain pillar #s where the bus comes?
How frequent is this bus...especially on New years Eve?
Is there an airside bus?...If so where does it leave from?...Is it faster??
I am sorry if these questions have been answered before.
I usually go to the US from YOW.
My flight gets in to T1 at 7 pm and leaves T2 at 815pm...Is this enough time to connect and go through US customs without baggage?

    Thanks very much

  • No airside bus available.

I took an airside bus 1 Dec from T1to T2. This bus was co-located with the bus transfer to the mid-field terminal.

Has this airside bus been cancelled?

Edited to add: The airside bus service can be a problem with short connections. It oftens has to stop to allow taxiing aircraft to pass by.

  • for those who replied to my questions.... thank you very much ^ ^

  • I can't answer all your questions, but here are some...

It will be very tight but you should make it. Given a normal T2 lineup, you wouldn't get through in time, but they usually pull people out of line who have a flight leaving imminently. Not that I think they should do this...but that's not something for this thread.

To be safe, you might want to try and catch an earlier flight. Also, any delay at all will make your connecting flight tough to make.

    To you as well!

  • Not 100% sure. In all my travels, its has been curbside. One of the downsides to having 2 separate terminals. CFB

  • Wali,

Here is the info from aircanada.com regarding the transfer. This would be the airside one.

    Hi Wali,
It is not that complicated if you follow the AC directions. Have a safe trip.

  • Yes.....you should make it. But expect it to be tight and hopefully, you are travelling light (I assume you are not going to have to get your luggage between T1 and T2).

Best to assume total travel time of 15 minutes to get out of T1 (since its a large terminal and everything takes longer to get to), find the bus (an agent will direct you if no one else provides a posting here) and get to T2. Buses run regularly every 5-10 min......I cannot say for certain what will be normal on New Years Eve....but assume normal times for now.

Once in T1, it will not take as much time to get through US customs since the vast majority of delays occur in the early morning. Expect 20 minutes to get through customs. Tops 30 minutes. If the line up is really long, a customs officer calls people from certain flights and fasttracks them.

Once thru customs and security.....go straight to gate and board plane.
Have fun....don't panic. Should work out.

PS if your inbound flight to T1 is delayed, aske the flight attendant to contact the connecting flight to inform them of your arrival. Occasionally, we do hear of planes waiting for a passenger if the delay is likely to be very short.
