YVR-NRT vs. YVR-HKG vs. YVR-ICN
YVR-HKG-BKK (AC J in 343, then TG J in 777). Longer AC flight, shorter TG one.
YVR-NRT-BKK (AC J in 343, then TG J in 747). Shorter AC flight, longer TG one, probably older J class on TG.
YVR-ICN-BKK (AC J in 763, then TG or OZ J in 333 or 777). Medium-length AC flight, medium-length TG or OZ flight.
I see plenty of AC people recommending other carriers, so I'm thinking the NRT connection (shorter on AC) is better. Is J on 343 the same as J on non-refurbished 763? I can assume YVR-ICN is older, non-refurbished 763, right?
Is catering similar on all 3 flights, or is there an extra meal on YVR-HKG?
Thanks for all the help!
Same goes for Thai (except the 772 on TG has new cabin. flat, but not horizontal. think SQ spacebed)
2 of our 343s have the newer seats (not lie flat) with on demand videos. The other 343s have non-on demand PTV:
As for 763 on the YVR/ICN route, usually it's operated with 763 with no PTV but there will be personal DVD players handed out in flight.
YVR/SFO (AC/UA), SFO/NRT(NH) or SFO/HKG(SQ) Then TG/NH from NRT/HKG to BKK. On the way back fly via NRT on TG/AC to YVR. For a bit more you can fly in F on a *A award.
I second this selection.......
YVR/SFO (AC/UA), SFO/NRT(NH) or SFO/HKG(SQ) Then TG/NH from NRT/HKG to BKK. On the way back fly via NRT on TG/AC to YVR. For a bit more you can fly in F on a *A award.
Singapore has a flight from NRT to BKK every morning. I would recommend this. We did it on the way there, in F (on points) and it was a very impressive service, and I am sure even J on SQ is way better than Thai. It is a 777 and the regional F seats, not the sky suite, but still a very nice flight. And if you are a fan of Dom, you will get your fill in F on Singapore, plus the ANA F lounge at NRT is very impressive.
YVR/SFO (AC/UA), SFO/NRT(NH) or SFO/HKG(SQ) Then TG/NH from NRT/HKG to BKK. On the way back fly via NRT on TG/AC to YVR. For a bit more you can fly in F on a *A award.
Thanks--actually, if it ends up being an award ticket, I'd probably go with F. I agree!
But if it's a paid ticket, the AC prices ex-LAX are hard to beat, but require AC on the TransPacific segment, so I'm just doing a little homework to check up on AC.
Thanks!
